Job description

We are looking for a project manager to get Open & Responsible Science practices formally recognized and rewarded in schools’ HR policies.

Do you have a passion for academic research? Do you believe academics who practice Open & Responsible Science should be recognized and rewarded appropriately? Then don’t hesitate to read on and apply!

Engagement & Research Services (ERS) is looking for a project manager that integrates the important developments of Open & Responsible Science (ORS) and Recognition & Rewards (R&R) by creating school-specific HR policies that recognize, appreciate, and reward ORS practices (e.g. Open Access, data sharing, preregistration, conducting civic engaged research). You will join ERS – a young and dynamic department within Professional Services at Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) – and work closely with the EUR schools and the Recognition & Rewards programme.

Job description
The project manager supports schools in prioritising, operationalising, and assessing ORS practices on a team and individual level through the lens of R&R. Through co-creation, the project manager tailors processes and materials to support adoption, implementation, and integration, thus making ORS practices formally recognized and rewarded through the HR processes related to evaluation and assessment within the schools.

As project manager, you:
  • are the linking pin between the research policy advisors, R&R/ORS portfolio holders, and the HR business partners of the various schools at EUR, and the R&R and ORS experts at central level;
  • support the schools in their (various) needs, from organizing dialogues to helping identify their ORS priorities, by getting the right people together and aligned;
  • monitor the process and deadlines until formal implementation of the schools’ HR policy;
  • represent EUR in national R&R meetings to facilitate learning and alignment between institutes that connect R&R and ORS.

Requirements

You recognize yourself in the following description:
  • You have a proactive and hands-on approach.
  • You are an active listener who understands the different needs and agendas of the parties involved.
  • Your communication style is adjusted to various audiences, so that your message is well-received.
  • You have experience in managing projects, are precise, and able to work with deadlines.
  • You have at least a basic knowledge of the academic research process and academic environment.
  • You have an excellent command of English (CEFR-level C1).

Desirable (but optional):
  • You have affinity with Open Science, Recognition & Rewards, and/or HR.
  • You have intermediate command of Dutch (CEFR-level B1).

Conditions of employment

An internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team, with good working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU).

The start date of this position is June 1st 2025 (or as early as possible) and you will be based at the Campus Woudestein - Rotterdam. The position is for 0,6 fte – 0,7 fte. The appointment is for one year only, due to the temporary nature of the funding. The salary is dependent on your experience and knowledge and ranges from a minimum of € 3.537 to a maximum of € 4.060 gross per month on a fulltime basis, in accordance with Scale 9 of the CAO-NU (in case experience and knowledge is applicable, scale 10 could be considered). In addition, you get to know the EUR and its extensive network.
