Job description

We seek a highly motivated bioinformatician/computational biologist to play a crucial role in a groundbreaking research project, investigating the biological mechanisms underlying pediatric post-COVID. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a multidisciplinary team, using cutting-edge computational techniques.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement comprehensive bioinformatic pipelines to analyze high-dimensional omics data (transcriptomics, metabolomics, proteomics).
  • Leverage methods in computational immunology to understand fundamentals of adaptive immune recognition, to design next-generation therapeutics and diagnostics.
  • Model antibody-antigen interaction using machine learning.
  • Develop and apply advanced statistical methods, machine learning algorithms, and data visualization techniques to analyze complex datasets.
  • Integrate and interpret multi-omics data to identify key biological pathways and mechanisms associated with pediatric post-COVID.
  • Collaborate closely with experimental researchers and clinicians to ensure appropriate data interpretation.
  • Contribute to scientific publications, grant applications, and patient communication.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of data analysis pipelines and results.

Requirements

Qualifications:
  • PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a closely related field.
  • Experience in analyzing high-throughput omics data, including transcriptomics, metabolomics, and proteomics.
  • Strong proficiency in programming (e.g., R, Python).
  • Experience with machine learning and data visualization tools.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as collaborative attitude and work experience in an interdisciplinary team setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in publishing scientific research.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in the field of immunology.
  • Experience with analysis of immune repertoire sequencing data.
  • Familiarity with relevant databases and bioinformatics tools relevant to immunology research.

Conditions of employment

The maximum salary for this position (36 - 36 hours) is € 5.504,00 gross per month based on full-time employment.

In addition, we offer an annual benefit of 8.3%, holiday allowance, travel expenses and career opportunities. The terms of employment are in accordance with the Cao University Medical Centers (UMC).

Department

You will be working in the Center for Translational Immunology, as part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of various principal investigators, clinicians, PhD students, post-docs and research technicians who are actively collaborating to better understand post-COVID and to develop diagnostic tools and novel therapeutic strategies for its treatment. You will also be part of the computational immunology core of the Center for Translational Immunology, which brings together bioinformaticians, biostatisticians and mathematical modelers working with immunological data.
