Do you have strong project management and organizational skills? We are seeking a Research Assistant to manage the project's day-to-day operations and ensure smooth coordination between all stakeholders, and support research activities.

A Safe Bet is a multistakeholder research initiative developing evidence-based tools to minimize gambling-related harm in the online sector. Through collaboration with industry partners and researchers, the project integrates behavioral science and digital interventions to create practical, scalable solutions for responsible gambling.

We are seeking a Research Assistant to manage the project's day-to-day operations and ensure smooth coordination between all stakeholders, and support research activities. The ideal candidate will have strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to maintain timelines, facilitate communication, and keep project deliverables on track.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support project coordination by managing stakeholder communication, maintaining timelines, scheduling meetings, documenting and tracking progress;
  • Act as communication relay channel between project collaborators (researchers and external partners);
  • Support the user research stream through coordination of the Expert-by-Experience (EbE) panel activities and qualitative interviews with research participants.

What will you learn:
  • Hands-on experience in research project management – Develop key skills in coordinating complex, multistakeholder research projects, managing timelines, and facilitating communication in a fast-paced environment;
  • Exposure to diverse and innovative research methodologies – Gain hands-on experience in applied research in digital behavior change, working with a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods in the complex field of responsible gambling.

Requirements

We are seeking a proactive and highly organized candidate. The ideal candidate will have:
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (Psychology, Behavioral Science, Public Health, Business, Communication Sciences, or related disciplines);
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with ability to prioritize & multitask;
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills;
  • Proactive and independent working style, with attention to detail;
  • Flexibility to work across multiple days per week (e.g., 4 half-days, or a mix of full and half-days) to maintain consistent communication flow;
  • Fluency in both Dutch and English is a must for communication with Dutch stakeholders;
  • Interest in responsible gambling, behavioral research, or digital interventions is a plus.

Conditions of employment

We offer you an internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team, with excellent working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU).

The start date of this position is as soon as possible and you will work for Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences (ESSB). This position is for 0.4 fte/2 days per week (with flexibility). The salary is dependent on your experience and knowledge and ranges from a minimum of € 3.378 to a maximum of € 3.537 gross per month (scale 10) on a fulltime basis (38 hours), in accordance with the CAO-NU. The contract is offered for a period of 6 months.

Department of Psychology, Education and Child Studies (DPECS)

Our department consists of 6 teams covering the disciplines of Psychology, Educational Sciences and Pedagogical Sciences; three closely related disciplines with each their own profile. The different psychological specialization areas of DPECS focus on understanding cognitive, physical, and social functioning and well-being in the context of mental health, education, and work. The educational sciences focus on issues regarding effectiveness and inclusion in primary, secondary and tertiary education. The pedagogical sciences focus on issues related to everyday as well as problematic development and upbringing within families, at school and in youth care. The disciplinary perspectives of DPECS complement each other and share the mission to generate societal impact with high-quality scientifical research on timely societal issues, and with the use of innovative methods and techniques and open science.
