The Department of Business Development and Technology (BTECH) at Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University, invites applications for associate professorship positions in industrial engineering.
An associate professorship is a full-time permanent position, and associate professors divide their time evenly between research and teaching activities. The successful candidates will become part of the EngTech research section.
The starting date is 1 August 2025 or as agreed upon.
At BTECH, we have a strong focus on company collaboration, which is reflected in our research and study programmes. For this reason, we expect that you, based on a background in mechanical engineering, production engineering, or similar, conduct applied research within a subset of the following disciplines:
Successful candidates are expected to contribute to our students’ educational development. For this reason, you are expected to teach and supervise students at all levels, including supervision of PhD students. Our study programs include, among others, an MSc in Engineering (Technology Based Business Development) as well as two Bachelor of Engineering programmes in Forretningsudvikling (Business Development cyberphysical systems/product and system development) and Global Management and Manufacturing (production and manufacturing systems). Candidates should therefore be prepared to teach courses in one or more of the following topics: Operations management, supply chain management, management of technology, and technology-based business development.
Your Qualifications
Employment as an associate professor requires a PhD degree and a strong academic background as assistant professor or equivalent. Furthermore, we prefer applicants with the following qualifications:

Terms of Employment
The appointment is made in accordance with the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Danish Universities as well as the circular on the Collective Agreement for Academics Employed by the State (in Danish). The job content and qualification requirements are described in further detail in the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities.
Non-Danish speakers are required to acquire a reasonable knowledge of the Danish language within three years. The department will grant time off from teaching to attend Danish courses during the first two years of employment.

The Evaluation Process
Shortlisting is applied. This means that an appointment committee (assisted by the chair of the assessment committee) advises the head of department on which applicants are the best overall match for the department’s recruitment needs and which possess the qualifications, competencies, experience and potential described above under “Your qualifications” and in the faculty’s criteria for evaluating candidates to permanent positions.
Through the shortlisting process, the head of department selects the applicants who are to receive a thorough assessment of their professional qualifications. The assessment committee will then assess these applicants. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been shortlisted and sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee.

BTECH is located in the business-oriented and entrepreneurial city of Herning. The department excels in business, IT and engineering disciplines and emphasises the importance of company collaborations.
