Job description

In this position you will have the opportunity to develop your PhD in the field of chemical recycling of plastic waste through pyrolysis. The work will focus on the investigation (experimentally and modelling) of reaction pathways and kinetics during pyrolysis of plastic waste.

You will be working in creative and experienced research groups with extensive experience of practical research and access to unique experimental infrastructure.

Requirements

For this position, we are searching for an ambitious candidate with a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering.

  • You have experience with experimental laboratory systems

Conditions of employment

  • You will be appointed on a fulltime position for four years.

Department

This project will be developed in close collaboration between the Sustainable Process Technology group at the University of Twente and the Chemical Recycling group at Maastricht University.

At SPT, we develop experimental and modelling research in the areas of biomass conversion, affinity separations, plastic recycling, water and CO2 capture and conversion. We combine our expertise in different disciplines (process design, chemistry, catalysis, modelling, engineering) to contribute to the development of sustainable chemical processes.

The Chemical Recycling Group at Maastricht University focuses on the development of sustainable processes for the conversion of complex feedstocks, such as plastics waste. We develop thermochemical and catalytic processes that allow their conversion and improve plastics circularity, investigating aspects such as components interaction, role of contaminants, and process upscaling.
