Job description

Are you ready for a challenging career with flexible working hours and an excellent pension scheme? Wageningen University & Research (WUR) is looking for a Integration Specialist who will help us to seamlessly link our systems. You talk to your stakeholder a lot and you supervise less experienced colleagues.

At WUR, we work with a modern integration landscape based on microservices, hosted in Kubernetes. We use open source technologies to create robust and flexible solutions. Our integration platform consists of two main components:
  • Enterprise Service Bus (ESB): Built in C#/.NET Core, where event-driven messages are exchanged via RabbitMQ. For CI/CD we use GitLab and for monitoring a combination of Splunk and OpenSearch.
  • Service layer: A data store based on OpenSearch, fed by the ESB, so that data can be searched by customers via API.

In addition, we have realized an Internet-of-Things solution for WUR with open source components. With this we receive data, distribute it (NATS), store it (Postgresql+TimescaleDB) and visualize the data (Grafana). This solution is very similar to the ESB in terms of architecture and working method. You will have plenty of opportunities to participate in this as well.

This combination makes us super flexible in linking systems, something that few commercial solutions can match. We are proud of this!

Did you know that WUR has been named the best employer for ICT within a non-ICT organisation?

The position
  • You are in frequent dialogue with customers and other stakeholders (e.g. architects) and ensure that the work is properly coordinated;
  • Analysing, designing and developing links within our application architecture;
  • You coordinate complex projects;
  • You supervise and coach less experienced colleagues.
  • Of course, you provide reliable integration solutions.

Requirements

  • Minimum HBO education;
  • At least 5 years of experience with software development, information analysis, functional and technical design (this is evident from your CV);
  • You like to talk to your customers and stakeholders;
  • Communicative and analytical skills;
  • You have a command of Dutch and English in word and writing;

Are you also a team player with experience in Agile methods such as Kanban and Scrum? Then we are looking for you!

Conditions of employment

When it comes to terms of employment, Wageningen University & Research is the right place for you. Highlights from our Collective Labour Agreement are, for example:
  • working hours that can be determined in consultation, so that an optimal work-life balance is possible;
  • sabbatical leave, study leave and partly paid parental leave;
  • There is a lot of attention for vitality and you can use the sports facilities on campus at an attractive rate;
  • a structural end-of-year bonus of 8.3%;
  • excellent pension scheme through ABP.

Of course, these excellent fringe benefits also include an appropriate salary. Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive salary of a minimum of € 3,234 to a maximum of € 5,757 for a full working week of 36 hours in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Wageningen Research (scale 10/11). In addition, an appointment of 32 hours is negotiable. We first offer you a contract for the duration of one year, with the intention of extending it. Of course we are happy to talk to you if you have any questions about this

Wageningen University & Research stimulates internal career opportunities and mobility with an internal recruitment policy.
