Job description

The UvA-wide theme Responsible Digital Transformations (RDT) is looking for a conference assistant (MA / MSc level) who can help the team organizing the international conference GenAI & Creative Practices: Past, Present, and Future that takes place in Amsterdam on 17-18 December 2025.

The conference aims to gather together scholars, researchers, and practitioners from around the world to discuss the effects of Generative AI on Creative Practices. AI is changing creative production and consumption in an unprecedented way, reigniting debates on the nature of creativity and its evolving trajectory. It creates new opportunities to engage in creative processes, while at the same time raising pressing concerns such as job displacement, labour inequities, ethical dilemmas, and concentration of resources in a few Tech companies. For more information about the conference, please see information on the RDT website. RDT is looking for a student assistant to join our team in order to support this conference. The appointment will run from 1 July to 24 December 2025.

This is what you will be doing
You will work in close collaboration with the current student assistant and the RDT team.
  • Assist with the preparation of the academic programme (e.g. tracking paper submissions; communication with the applicants; helping to organize the academic sessions).
  • Support planning of conference logistics (e.g. ordering catering; setting up remote connections; travel and accommodation support for visitors; managing the conference registration list)
  • Help with the execution of conference logistics (e.g. staffing the registration table; welcoming guests; supporting the catering service; tracking and reporting public engagement)
  • Internal and external communications

  • Availability in July and August 2025 is a must
  • Excellent skills in planning, organizing, and problem solving
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Organizational experience is desirable
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written)

We offer temporary employment for the period of 6 months (July-December 2025). Preferably, you will start as soon as possible, but no later than July 15. The employment is for 12-16 hours per week.
