Job description

Are you a motivated and detail-oriented (Research) Master student that is eager to support our researchers at the Amsterdam School of Communication Research (ASCoR)? Do you have a broad interest in academic research in the field of Communication Science? Then, apply for this position!

We are looking for an ambitious (Research) Master student in Communication Science that has affinity with scientific research in the field of Communication Science. You will support ASCoR researchers with their research activities, ranging from identifying relevant grants to supporting them with administrative and project coordination tasks.

You will be supervised by Dr. Toni van der Meer (Funding Manager individual grants ASCoR) and Dr. Barbara Schouten (Funding Manager consortium grants ASCoR).

What are you going to do
You are responsible for supporting ASCoR researchers with their research activities; in particular, you will be tasked with the following:
  • Support ASCoR staff with identifying relevant national and international grant opportunities
  • Analyze trends within successful grant applications and advice ASCoR on effective strategies
  • Support ASCoR staff with the grant development process (e.g. identifying relevant connections, establishing contact)
  • Support ASCoR staff in administrative and project coordination tasks (e.g. organizing meetings)

Prepare and support ASCoR staff with research presentations and documentation.

What do you have to offer
Your experience and profile:
  • a (Research) Master student in Communication Science;
  • affinity with academic research in the field of Communication Science
  • some experience with doing research
  • strong organization and social skills
  • capable of and comfortable with expressing yourself clearly in English, both verbally and in writing;
  • pro-active mindset

The planned starting date for this position is September 1 2025. The position concerns temporary employment of 16 hours (0.2 fte) for a maximum term of 1 year with a probationary period of three months.
