Research Data Management application supporter

As a supporter of our functional application managers, you help solve questions and problems from researchers and students who use research data applications. You are in direct contact with users, online and occasionally physically, to answer questions and solve system problems. The team of functional application managers for research data applications consists of three employees, who manage various applications. In recent years, the use of these applications has grown enormously and the number of questions has also increased considerably. In addition, we are dealing with a number of system migrations, which has further increased the number of questions. We are therefore looking for someone who can temporarily reinforce our team for a number of hours a week.

Your duties

• answering questions from users of research data applications
• creating accounts for users of research data applications
• supporting the migration of accounts and data from research data applications
• assisting in writing user documentation and manuals

• you are (will become) a bachelor or master student at the VU
• you are good at dealing with new computer programs
• you are helpful and socially strong
• you are fluent in both English and Dutch, both spoken and written

You are available for 4 to 16 hours per week, from July to December.

That is why we offer you: A salary of up to € 3,137 (Scale 4) gross per month, for a full-time employment contract. This is based on the UFO profile Administrative employee 3. The exact salary depends on your education and experience.

A position for at least 0.1 FTE and a maximum of 0.4 FTE. Your employment contract will initially last 3 months.

In addition, we offer you attractive secondary employment conditions and arrangements. Some examples:

• a full-time 38-hour working week includes a vacation credit of 232 hours per year. If you choose to work 40 hours, you have 96 extra vacation hours per year. In the case of a part-time appointment, this is calculated pro rata.
• 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus room for personal development
• the possibility to work partly from home discount on (and occasionally exclusive access to)
• theatre performances and courses from Griffioen cultural centre

The Research Data Support Network

You will work in a team consisting of functional managers of data management applications, specialists in the field of research data management, IT specialists and data stewards who provide support to researchers at the faculties. Together we form the Research Data Support Network and we have a great ambition in supporting researchers. You will be appointed at the Digital Services and Infrastructure Department of the University Library.
