Job description

Utrecht University School of Economics is hiring a lecturer in Management, or related fields (Entrepreneurship, Strategy, Innovation, International Business).

Your job
As a lecturer, you will prepare and teach courses in our Bachelor's programme in Economics and Business Economics, and (depending on expertise) in the Master's programmes in Business Development and Entrepreneurship, International Management, Business and Social Impact, or Science and Business Management.

You will take care of teaching in accordance with the academic and departmental guidelines. The Entrepreneurship Section’s policy is to align the expertise of the candidate with the content of the courses to be taught; moreover, you have a stable set of courses in your portfolio to promote a continuous development of both the lecturer and the courses. Furthermore, you will supervise Bachelor's and Master's theses and other research projects by students.

You will have the possibility to follow courses and training to further improve your skills. And you will have the possibility to coordinate courses and groups of teachers.

Requirements

The successful candidate is expected to have a thorough knowledge and skills in teaching Management (or Strategy, Innovation Management, International Business and/or Entrepreneurship), more particularly:
  • a PhD degree in economics, management or a related discipline. Candidates close to PhD graduation are also welcome to apply;
  • relevant knowledge and skills with teaching in (a subset of) the disciplines: strategy, innovation management, international business and/or entrepreneurship;
  • teaching experience in an international academic environment with the proven ability to inspire students from undergraduate to graduate levels, possibly apparent from positive assessments by students and peers;
  • excellent communication and coordination skills;
  • an excellent command of spoken and written English (and possibly Dutch);
  • being able to teach in Dutch is a plus;
  • teaching experience at a Dutch university is a plus.

Conditions of employment

  • A job for 48 months;
  • a working week of 36-40 hours and a gross monthly salary between €4,537 and €6,209 in the case of full-time employment (salary scale 11 under the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU));
  • 8% holiday pay and 8.3% year-end bonus;
  • a pension scheme, partially paid parental leave and flexible terms of employment based on the CAO NU.
