Job description

Is business economics in your blood? Do you have an affinity with real estate and enjoy working on financial reports, internal cost allocations, and process optimization? Do you like collaborating, both with clients and colleagues? Then keep reading!

As a Financial Officer within the Real Estate & Housing (V&H) department, you will focus on the business-economic aspects of housing files and investment projects. You will also advise colleagues and members of the management team. It’s a varied role, offering a great work-life balance and excellent collective labor agreement (CAO) conditions.

Your Role
You will work on files and projects that involve both business-economic and organizational aspects. You’ll do this together with the Financial Coordinator for Real Estate, and you'll also contribute to the planning & control cycle within V&H.

Your tasks and responsibilities include:
  • Drafting, analyzing, and reporting on WUR-wide housing budgets, including the internal allocation of underlying costs (e.g., taxes and levies, insurance, and energy).
  • Providing business and organizational advice to other V&H sections and on housing issues to organizational units.
  • Monitoring the completeness of housing data in Planon (the facility management information system), ensuring files are sufficiently substantiated for any changes in Planon.
  • Calculating (using Planon) the annual housing bill for various organizational units, as well as assessing the impact of proposed investment decisions on housing costs. You will co-lead discussions on these housing bills alongside the Financial Coordinator Real Estate.
  • Internal charging and providing information to organizational units about energy consumption costs, and analyzing and reporting deviations from the budget to Corporate Finance & Control.
  • Setting up and optimizing various processes and participating in tenders and projects related to your field.
  • Supporting maintenance and (re)construction projects using the Real Estate Project Dossier app.

Requirements

Accuracy and customer focus come naturally to you. You’re proactive and solution-oriented, and you actively seek collaboration but can also work independently.

You also bring:
  • At least a completed higher professional education (HBO), e.g., in Business Economics (BE) or SPD (modern accounting);
  • Willingness to specialize in real estate if necessary;
  • Recent experience in a comparable business-economic role;
  • Knowledge and experience with Erbis/ErbisOne, Planon, or other FMIS software is a plus.
  • a good command of the Dutch language

You see plenty of challenges ahead and are open to treating them as development opportunities. So even if you don't check every box in the vacancy but have solid work experience, we still warmly invite you to apply.

Where You’ll Work
You’ll be part of the V&H Directorate section. The team includes you, the coordinator, a management assistant, and a (financial) administrative staff member. The team is led by the head of V&H.
Real Estate & Housing (V&H) is part of the Facilities and Services department at Wageningen University & Research (WUR). The Facilities and Services department (550 employees) is an innovative and professional service provider. V&H (about 75 employees) develops, manages, and maintains WUR’s building portfolio (approx. 650,000 m² GFA) and oversees a highly diverse real estate portfolio. Key themes for V&H include campus development, strategic housing planning, energy transition, portfolio management, sustainability, and (occupational) safety and the environment.

Conditions of employment

Wageningen University & Research offers excellent terms of employment. A few highlights from our Collective Labour Agreement include:
  • working hours that can be discussed and arranged so that they allow for the best possible work-life balance;
  • sabbatical leave, study leave, and partially paid parental leave;
  • there is a strong focus on vitality and you can make use of the sports facilities available on campus for a small fee;
  • a fixed year-end bonus of 8,3%;
  • excellent pension scheme.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between € 3.316,- and € 4.734,- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 9). We offer a one-year contract with the intention to extend it in a permanent one. Of course, we are happy to have a conversation with you if you have any questions about this.

Wageningen University & Research offers plenty of opportunities for growth and development, with a strong internal recruitment policy and excellent training programmes.

You will work on the greenest and most innovative campus in the Netherlands, in an international and open working environment. For 20 consecutive years, we have been voted the "best university" in the Netherlands! A place to be proud of.
