This is what you will do
The core tasks of an Assistant Professor are in teaching and research. More specifically:
  • 50% of the time will be for research;
  • The teaching load will (maximally) take up the other 50% of time;
  • Teaching will be at the graduate (MSc), the undergraduate (BSc) level or in one of the executive programs the ABS offers;
  • Research is aimed at international top tier journals, especially in the fields of HRM, OB and Management.

The intended starting date will be 1 February 2026, depending on the candidate's availability and the section's planning.

This is what we ask of you
We are looking for an Assistant Professor in HRM & HR Analytics. Candidates should have or be close to (the thesis should be approved by the time the contract starts) obtaining a PhD in HRM, Management Science, Business Analytics, Psychometrics or a closely related discipline, and their research should concern the fields of HRM, organizational behavior/management and/or people or business analytics. We are especially interested in candidates with a quantitative background and an interest in People Analytics. They will be evaluated on their potential for and/or record of excellence in teaching and research. Given developments in the section’s and school’s research we expect that candidates are skilled in applying computer science-powered tools of data analysis or are willing to learn these skills and develop this expertise as soon as possible.

This is what we offer you
The selected candidate will be offered a six-year tenure track position as Assistant Professor. Upon meeting the criteria for tenure as judged by the ABS Promotion and Tenure committee, a permanent contract as Associate Professor will be offered. The gross monthly salary during the first three years will be, depending on experience, between €4,728 and €6,433 (salary scale 11) based on 38 hours per week (+ 16.3% holiday and end-year payments). After a positive evaluation the maximum becomes €7,297 (salary scale 12). This is based on 38 hours per week and in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, regulating employment conditions at Dutch universities. A substantial reduction in income tax (equal to 30% of taxable salary) may apply to non-Dutch candidates for the first few years of employment (subject to tax law). The UvA offers a very attractive pension scheme.

This is where you’ll be working
The Leadership & Management section at the Amsterdam Business School is a growing interdisciplinary group of currently 16 faculty members and 7 PhD students with expertise in a broad range of topics and research methods. The research of the Leadership & Management section focuses on themes including Strategic HRM and HR analytics, (un)ethical and charismatic leadership in organisations, proactive work behavior, personality, stereotypes, and the role of time, motivation and emotions.
