Sanquin Research’s Department of Immunopathology is looking for a highly motivated and ambitious biomedical or biopharmaceutical sciences post-doctoral researcher.

The post-doc position is part of the EU-funded H20202 project ReSToRe. Patients with multiple sclerosis are being treated with peptide-loaded tolerogenic dendritic cells in hospitals in Barcelona and Antwerp. The post-doc here will focus on the analyses of antigen-specific T and B cell responses. The first part of the project will focus on the generation and application of recombinant MHC class II tetramers for detection of antigen-specific CD4 T cells using a novel approach/technology. In the second part of the project we will use several assays to analyze in depth the T and B cell responses in multiple sclerosis patients upon treatment. Single cell RNAseq may be used to study differences between antigen-specific CD4 T and B cells before and after treatment.

Research group

The Immune modulation and Immunomonitoring Research group is part of the Department of Immunopathology in the Division Research of Sanquin. We investigate the modulation of immune responses by blood products as well as immunomodulatory therapies, with a specific focus on CD4+ T cell responses. The department comprises 40-50 people (post-docs, PhD-students, undergraduate students and technicians) that all work on related research topics. In this project we closely collaborate with the Division Diagnostics, especially with the Immunomonitoring services, where pre-clinical and clinical testing for Biotech and Pharma is performed.

We request

• PhD in biomedical or biopharmaceutical sciences;
• Experience with recombinant protein expression;
• Immunological knowledge;
• Experience with multi-color flowcytometry a pre;
• Interest in applied and translational science;
• Good command of written and spoken English;
• Ability to work independently as well as being a team player.
