Department of Primary CareThe research center is a part of the Primary Care Department at Radboud university medical center. The Primary Care Department is a top, international center for education, training, and research in the field of Primary Care. The Department houses a wide array of disciplines with the common thread in that they all operate within the sphere of primary care. These involve disciplines such as General Practice Medicine, specialization Elderly Care Medicine, Public Health, Occupational Medicine, and Intellectual Disability Medicine.
With 210 staff members (130 FTE), the Primary Care Department is one of the larger departments at Radboud university medical center and fulfills an important role as a liaison between the hospital and primary healthcare. The Department focuses on developing, supporting, and evaluating care innovations, particularly through the incorporation and integration of prevention, self-care and autonomy, primary healthcare, and transmural care. Since 2010, patient care has formed an integral component of the Department via academic health centers, where the emphasis lies strongly on proactive, multidisciplinary, innovative and integrated care.
