The Landscape Architecture and Spatial Planning Group at Wageningen University & Research is looking for a Junior Researcher (0.84 fte)

To support our group in different projects in research and design for urban climate adaptation we are looking for a junior researcher. Main work fields will cover project management support for an international project (European Industrial Doctorate 'Soloclim'), developing new design solutions (within the project 'design and government') creating educational modules (for a SURF online course on Resilience Engineering), assisting in teaching courses and working on a self-initiated PhD research in the field of urban climate adaptation or research through design methodology.

Requirements

We ask the following personal competences: academic attitude, creativity, a communicative and collaborative personality, a passion for research, organisational talent and a flexible, proactive attitude.
In general, we expect the successful candidate to:
  • hold an MSc in landscape architecture, urban design or related disciplines
  • be able to work with common design software (GIS, AutoCAD or similar, Adobe Design package, website creation software)
  • willingness to get acquainted swiftly with project software of the EU and SURF
  • have good command of English and be willing to learn Dutch (non-Dutch candidates).

Conditions of employment

We offer a contract from October 1st 2019 for two years for 32 hours per week with a possibility to extend to 4 years. Depending on your expertise and experience a salary from a minimum of € 2709,- (gross) to a maximum of € 4274,- (gross) based on fulltime employment.

Our specific competence is to analyse complex and dynamic landscape systems at various scale levels, and to propose inspiring and meaningful planning and design solutions. Accordingly, we educate and train a growing numbers of Bachelor, Master and PhD students to become knowledgeable, reflective, and creative landscape architects and planners. We are embedded in the department of Environmental Sciences of Wageningen University, which provides fundamental research and academic education on our living environment. We are member of the Wageningen Institute for Environment and Climate Research (WIMEK). The Landscape Architecture and Spatial Planning Group is extending activities in research and design for urban climate adaptation.
