The Applied Probability group is looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic Assistant Professor. Depending on the candidate’s qualities, an appointment at the level of Associate Professor can be considered. His/her responsibilities include:
• research in the area of probability theory, preferably in the area of interacting particle systems, mathematical statistical physics.
• supervising Bachelor and Master students in their graduation projects.
Educational responsibilities include service teaching (general introductory mathematics courses), and teaching courses in the areas of stochastic processes or Mathematical Finance at the undergraduate (minor in Finance) as well as the master's level.
In addition, the candidate is expected to be active in acquiring and managing externally funded research projects.

The candidate should be a university graduate with a PhD in Mathematics (with specialization probability theory). He/she has a proven track record in his/her research field with a specific emphasis on probability as evidenced by refereed publications in high-quality journals.
The candidate is an enthusiastic team player, is able to make significant contributions to research, and has excellent teaching skills. .
Fixed-term contract: Tenure Track.
At the start of the tenure-track you will be appointed as Assistant Professor for the duration of six years. Department chair, section heads and you will agree upon expected performance and (soft) skills. You will receive formal feedback on performance and skills during annual assessment meetings and the mid-term evaluation. If the performance and skills are evaluated positively at the end of the tenure track, you will be appointed in a permanent Assistant Professor position.

The Applied Probability group is one of the key research groups at Delft Institute of Applied Mathematics (DIAM), which forms an integral part of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS). The group performs a broad spectrum of research in the areas mathematical statistical physics, interacting particle systems, ergodic theory, finance and risk.
An important common theme of the institute it partial differential equations. The candidate preferably has a research area in probability that connects to the area interacting particle systems and their connections with partial differential equations such as e.g. (but not limited to) hydrodynamic limits, large deviations, fluctuation fields, and singular stochastic partial differential equations such as the KPZ equation.
