Job description

The main aim of the TU Delft Global Engagement Framework 2018-2024 is to increase its Global Impact by creating technology-based solutions to societal challenges. To deliver this Global Impact, TU Delft will focus on growing global partnerships in order to increase access to talent, knowledge, complementary research environments, state of the art research facilities and funding. China, where TU Delft has a long track record of university collaboration, is considered a priority location for  accelerating engagement with key partners.

The coordinator China provides direct support to the TU Delft University Ambassador China and members of the China Cross Faculty Country Team (CFCT) . 

The coordinator China works directly with the programme manager Non-EU focus countries (Brazil, China & India). 

Key responsibilities

  • align activities with the programme manager Non-EU focus countries
  • assist and support the TU Delft University Ambassador China with the finalising, implementation and delivery of the objectives of the partnership plan China
       -be an active member of the cross faculty country team (CFCT) in order to liaise internally
        and share best practices

       -work with China theme leaders on the development of the individual work plans in China
       -manage and monitor finances of the partnership plan and investigate additional funding
        opportunities where possible
      
    -facilitate actions and or initiatives to be integrated in TU Delft service department where
        relevant and as such contribute to the implementation of the Global
    Engagement Framework 
        (GEF) 2018-2024
  • build market intelligence on China in areas such as higher education, health sector, R&D, business development and entrepreneurship in order to advise the TU Delft University Ambassador and China Cross Faculty Country Team (CFCT)
  • organise and advice on the importance and relevance of incoming delegations from and outgoing delegations to China
  • develop and manage the TU Delft relationship with overseas academic and research partners as well as relevant external networks in NL, EU and the world such as embassies, ministries, funding bodies, health sector, industry and other organisations to strengthen existing portfolio of research collaborations in the region.

Compentencies

The post holder is based in Delft yet must be willing to travel overseas when required. We particularly welcome applications from candidates with knowledge and experience of the higher education and government sectors in China / Hong Kong who also have:

  • Excellent network skills to build productive relationships at all levels
  • Ability to work in and understand Chinese culture
  • Language skills Dutch, English and Chinese
  • Ability to work creatively and strategically
  • Team player and negotiator
  • Organisational and interpersonal skills 

Qualifications

  • Minimum educated to graduate or PhD level in the Netherlands and/or abroad
  • Minimum of 5 years study and/or work experience in a university overseas and or in the Netherlands, preferably the TU Delft, or a university related government organisation
  • Minimum of 2 years direct work experience in China/Hong Kong

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: for the period of maximum 5 years (2019-2024).

The position is for 32-38 hours per week (0.8 - 1.0 FTE). This concerns a temporary position for a maximum of 5 years. The salary is based on Scale .. of the collective bargaining agreement of the Dutch universities (CAO Nederlandse Universiteiten) with a minimum gross monthly salary of € 4.406,- and a maximum of € 5.656,-(based on a full-time appointment). You will build up a pension through the ABP pension fund.

The coordinator China must be willing to travel overseas when required.

In addition to holiday pay in May, you will receive an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% in December. You can also compile an individual package of employment conditions each year through the ‘Individual Terms and Conditions of Employment Options Scheme’, including buying and selling hours of leave.
