The candidate will work in a dynamic and enthusiastic research group on the research project ‘Anti-bullying programs 2.0: Tailored interventions to minimize bullying’, funded by the NWO Vici programme. Using an integrated goal and social network perspective, the programme investigates, since four years, ways to further reduce bullying by focusing on the role of the group, popular bullies, the position of chronic victims, and the teacher as significant other. The postdoctoral researcher will be involved in evaluating the ‘SterkWerk’ intervention that aims to teach bullies socially acceptable ways to gain or maintain their status: https://www.sterkwerkinfo.nl (based on the Meaningful Roles intervention).

The successful candidate is a starting scholar with a PhD in the Social Sciences and has a key interest in studying the social development of children and adolescents.

We are looking for candidates who meet the following requirements:
• a PhD degree in Social Sciences
• a relevant publication record demonstrating your ability to publish international academic publications, preferably in top tier peer-reviewed journals
• experience with theory-driven research with a clear eye for the practical implications
• good statistical skills, preferably experience with social network analysis
• a clear interest in collaborative interdisciplinary research
• the ability to communicate verbally and in written form in English and Dutch (or willingness to learn Dutch)
• innovative, independent, and proactive
• a team player with good communication skills.

Fixed-term contract: 18 months.

We offer you in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities:
• a salary of € 3,255 (salary scale 10) gross per month in the first year, up to a maximum of € 4,274 gross per month for a full-time position
• a full-time position (38 hours per week) for 1.5 years.
• a holiday allowance of 8% gross annual income
• an 8.3% end-of-the-year allowance
• minimum of 29 holidays and additional 12 holidays in case of full-time employment
• excellent secondary benefits, including a pension scheme and flexible employment conditions.
