Job description

The Small Animal Veterinary Department at Utrecht University is looking for an intern. Primarily, the work will consist of contribution to the high level of patient care during the peri-operative period. Our case load is quite varied, and consists of surgical patients, patients undergoing diagnostic imaging (CT, MRI, scintigraphy, ultrasound, radiography) and radiation therapy. We also anaesthetize patients for minimal invasive cardiovascular procedures, and occasionally birds and other animals for our exotics department. We provide out-of-hours anaesthesia service for both referral as well as first opinion emergency cases, which results in a rather varied and interesting caseload. Good back up is provided during the first months of employment.

We are looking for a motivated, conscientious candidate with good communication skills, who likes to work in a team and shares our objectives of providing the highest quality of patient care. Fluent English (both spoken and written) is mandatory, learning to communicate in Dutch is highly encouraged.

The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the education of our Master students, not only in their practical skills but also in advancing their veterinary knowledge by providing tutorials to small groups of students (teaching and communication in English is not a problem).
