We are looking for a postdoc for our Department of Internal Medicine/Nephrology where you will join the Islet lab that develops basic and clinical research programs involving human pancreatic islet cells. Are you the candidate we are looking for?

Job description

You will be working on a project focusing on investigating the cellular plasticity (i.e. capacity to change identity) of human pancreatic islet cells in the context of type 1 diabetes. This project will be run in collaboration with Dr Raphael Scharfmann (INSERM, Paris, France). In addition, you will be involved in the isolation of human pancreatic islets for transplantation within a GMP environment contributing to the current clinical islet transplantation program in our institute. Islets and non-islet tissue that cannot be used for transplantation can often be used for research purposes.

Requirements

You are a motivated and dedicated candidate who holds a PhD degree in biomedical sciences (or equivalent). Preferrably, you have experience in (primary human) cell culture, RNA and protein work (Q-PCR, RNA-sequencing, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry), cell imaging techniques (confocal, live imaging), and in particular in bioinformatics (use of R) and big data analysis (of (single-cell) transcriptomics, ideally). We are looking for someone who is flexible and can work well together.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: Four Years.

You will be employed on the basis of 36 hours per week. Appointment is for one year, with an extension of two years. Your salary is based on your education and experience and is a maximum of  € 4,481  gross per month for a full time position (scale 10 in the Collective Labour Agreement for University Hospitals).
