You will work closely together with the NIAS Director, Head of Academic Affairs, and Communication officer. You will provide scientific writing and communications support.
In addition, you will work closely together with individual fellows and theme-groups in an interdisciplinary environment of scholars, artists, journalists and writers and gathering in-depth knowledge of their research within the field of social sciences, humanities and (occasionally) life-sciences.
You write and edit a variety of high-quality texts such as reports and summaries of academic events and publications; interviews; press releases; announcements; policy documents; regulatory documentation, fund raising documents, high-profile academic publications (books and articles) and web-content. You are the spokesperson for press and publicity.
You also contribute to the scientific communication strategy and are responsible for the execution of the scientific communication strategy by delivering high-quality abstracts, posters, presentations and web-content in a timely manner.
The appointment at the KNAW for the benefit of NIAS is in the first instance an employment contract for a period of one year. Depending on relevant work experience, the salary is at least € 2,709.00 and at most € 4,274.00 (scale 10 Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities) for a 38-hour working week. The KNAW offers attractive fringe benefits, such as an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%, an 8% holiday allowance, a good pension scheme, 6 weeks' holiday on an annual basis and the possibility of buying/selling leave days.
