Education and Student Affairs'Education and Student Affairs' (ESA) is - as central department in Wageningen University and Research - responsible for the strategy, the implementation as well as the support for and innovation of its education. The department matches supply and demand in education, is responsible for all the administrative processes, guarantees the quality of its education and develops and implements the university's vision on education. In addition to its accredited educational BSc and MSc programmes, ESA initiates and develops new educational activities, including an online education portfolio and professional education. More than 200 employees work at the department of Education and Student Affairs.
The Education Support CentreAs part of ESA, the Education Support Centre (ESC), aims at optimising learning and teaching and educational innovations at our university. ESC seeks to inspire lecturers, facilitate and support their teaching and the education environment and finally to enhance lecturers' professional competences. Since 14 years, Wageningen University and Research has a leading position in the Netherlands for its quality education and education facilities and continues to implement ambitious plans related to blended and open and online education. The Education Support Centre employs around 45 staff: educational trainers, instructional designers, multimedia specialists, functional managers, IT in education specialists and experts on society engaged learning. Among its main responsibilities, the centre offers pedagogical advice, advises on IT application in education, trains lecturers and offers workshops and courses (including the University Teaching Qualification (Basis Kwalificatie Onderwijs)), supports educational innovations, including the development and implementation of open and online education, offers functional management of the digital learning system - Brightspace - and IT applications such as FeedBackFruits, Turnitin and LabBuddy and, finally, stimulates and offers real life cases in education of societal partners (from business, governmental-, and civil society organisations).
