Operations Research (OR) in Tilburg is known for its forefront research in areas like Optimization, Game Theory, Business Analytics, Discrete Mathematics and Applied Probability. The OR faculty have diverse expertise, and is strongly committed to advancing both theory and society through analytic research and impactful projects. An example is the Zero Hunger Lab, in which OR faculty develop models and techniques to optimize food supply chains to feed as many people as possible in countries with substantial hunger.

Applicants should demonstrate research excellence in an OR subfield. Applicants publish in top-ranked journals, advance quantitative methods in OR and contribute to high-impact application areas. We seek to further strengthen our core and other areas in OR, including Data Science and Analytics (theory and computation) and Stochastic OR. Applicants should possess or be close to completion of a PhD in Operations Research, Mathematics, Econometrics, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related relevant field.

The OR group is part of the department of Econometrics and Operations Research, in turn embedded in the Tilburg School of Economics and Management, the leading European School for research and education in the fields of Business and Economics. The department hosts many leading experts in areas such as Operations Research, Quantitative Finance, Actuarial Science, Econometrics, Mathematical Economics and Game Theory. The department offers a BSc program in Econometrics and Operations Research and three MSc programs in Business Analytics and Operations Research, Econometrics and Mathematical Economics, and Quantitative Finance and Actuarial Science. The OR group also participates in the CentER Graduate Program in Business, both on Research Master and PhD level. Fixed-term contract: 6 years.
