Minimum qualifications:
● BSc level, obtained through education, training and/or experience
● experience in statistical analysis and data handling
● knowledge of machine-learning algorithms
● experience in writing programme code
● ability to work both independently and in multidisciplinary teams
● strong communication skills, both verbal and written
● a good command of English
● several years of working experience as a data scientist (or in a closely related field).

A practical test will be part of the selection procedure.

At least several of these additional qualifications:
● experience in Python and/or R
● experience in relevant libraries, like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras and/or other deep learning frameworks
● experience in data visualisation
● experience in computer vision techniques
● experience in Natural Language Processing
● understanding of (deep) neural networks
● scientific knowledge in a relevant domain
● teaching skills.

Fixed-term contract: 12 maanden.

We offer you in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities:

- a salary based on the experience and education level of the candidate between € 2,709 (salary scale 10) and € 4,978 (scale 11) gross per month by a full-time appointment
- a holiday allowance of 8% and an 8.3% year-end bonus
- 232 holiday hours per calendar year for a full-time employment and participation in a pension scheme for employees
- a temporary position for a period of 1 year, with the prospect of extension.

Help us bring more data science to all university research disciplines and join our team. You get to help biologists use CNN's on their microscopy data, use BERT to analyse tweets of politicians, or assist radiologists by segmenting their medical images. In short, you get to do what you think works best to help our (inter)national researchers.

Scientists from all disciplines are eager to get involved in data science. Therefore, our Data Science team has grown tremendously in the last three years. New advances in deep neural networks, but also
well-established machine learning and statistical techniques, open up questions that researchers without knowledge of TensorFlow, scikit-learn, R, and other tools cannot answer, even though they have collected interesting data. Besides supporting scientific research, a smaller part of our tasks include teaching professionals and students. Our courses are often graded above 9 out of 10. You would join our team of 10 members with backgrounds in machine learning, statistics, computer vision, business development, psychology and economics.
