You are a (possibly early-career) creative and flexible ICT professional. You enjoy building high-quality software and wish to broaden your knowledge and capabilities.

You will be responsible for providing a new look and feel to much-used applications by using the open-source repository software components EPrints and Apache SOLR. You will ensure that the applications remain well manageable and maintainable.

You will be coached by an experienced developer who will focus on your growth and progress.

Requirements

● have obtained a degree in ICT from a university or university of applied sciences
● be result-oriented, precise, able to collaborate and a fast learner
● be analytical and able to work in a structured manner
● be able to develop maintainable software by demonstrably using best coding practices
● experience with PHP, Perl, Laravel, Linux and databases is an advantage.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 24 maanden.

We offer you in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities:
- a salary, based on qualifications and experience, of between € 2,835 and € 3,895 (scale 9) gross per month for a full-time position
- a holiday allowance of 8% gross annual income
- an 8.3% year-end bonus
- minimum of 29 holidays and additional 12 holidays in case of full-time employment
- a contract for two years.

The University of Groningen Library (UB) is the UG’s information hub. The UB provides academics and students with the information and services that they need to do world-class research and helps to raise the profile of their work at an international level.

The UB is continually improving its services and products on a project-by-project basis. To this end, international loans between various libraries are supported via an interlibrary loan system, a new user interface for the online discovery environment has been piloted and apps for finding locations within the library and for reserving studios in the library have been developed.

In order to support the development group currently comprising four staff members, the UB is looking for a Developer to start as soon as possible.
