The Department of Pharmacology and Personalised Medicine (PPM) part of the School for Mental Health and Neuroscience (MHeNs) has a vacancy for a technician position

Job description

In this position you will be responsible for maintaining a functional laboratory in accordance with university regulations and carrying out basic and applied research that is of relevance to pharmacology and personalised medicine. The current Horizon 2020 project REPO-TRIAL involves: You will work together with the principal investigators of the project, Prof. Dr. Harald HHW Schmidt and Dr. A Casas, in an international team to carry out and co-publish experiments both independently and in a team for which you will be guided by the group leaders and become increasingly independent. The stem cell research is part of the expertise group Stem Cells within the research division Translational Neuroscience of MHeNs headed by Prof. Dr. J Prickaerts.

Requirements

We are looking for a technician with training and experience and a proven track record in antibody technology, diagnostic assay development, optimisation and validation on different platforms (Western, ELISA, PCR, multiplex), cell culture and enzyme assays.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: one year contract with a possibility of permanent position after positive review.

The appointment will be on a parttime (max 32 hours/week) basis. Your salary will be according to the scale of function group 7, minimum € 2,261,- and maximum € 3,052,- gross per month on a full time basis, depending on your relevant experience.

The Department of Pharmacology and Personalised Medicine (PPM) applies big data, systems medicine and network pharmacology approaches for mechanism-based re-definition of diseases, molecular diagnosis and curative therapy by rapid clinical repurposing of registered drugs for new applications of unmet medical need. Techniques involve antibody-based biomarker discovery, application and validation, ex vivo, in vivo and clinical drug tests as well as applied bioinformatics (mostly in collaboration). In parallel, stem cell validation experiments are included. PPM and its highly international, English-speaking team is part of the School Mental Health and Neuroscience (MHeNs) and mainly funded by competitive European research grants.
