Job description

The Academic Language Programme (ALP) of the Faculty of Humanities at the VU Amsterdam is looking for one or more lecturers of Academic English for a maximum of 0.6 fte in total starting Februari 1st, 2020. As a lecturer for ALP you will teach writing skills for students from different majors varying from History to Computer Science.

  • a degree in English language and culture, or a related field 
  • ample experience in teaching writing for university students from different disciplines
  • a PhD degree in a relevant field of linguistics is preferred but not required 

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 3 months.

A challenging position in a socially involved organization. On a full-time basis the remuneration amounts to a minimum gross monthly salary of €2,709 (scale 10)
and a maximum of €4,274 (scale 10), depending on your education and experience. The job profile is based on the university job ranking system and is available for at least 0.2 FTE.

The initial employment contract will cover a period of 3 months, with the possibility of extension.

About ALP
The Academic Language Programme offers courses for a wide range of bachelor's and master's programmes at the VU. The ALP works together with directors of these programmes to optimize the teaching of language skills relevant to their disciplines.
