Job description

Are you an enthusiastic and experienced technical assistant, who is dedicated to research and education in Physics and Physical Chemistry and also is a keen team player?
Then we are looking for you!


You will perform coordinating and assisting tasks in various practical aspects of our courses, for training and supporting the PhD's and students in using the equipment of our group and for maintaining the equipment.
You are also responsible for testing new equipment to facilitate equipment purchase decisions and you will participate in obtaining data for specific research activities. In addition, you may assist in initiating new research lines by conducting initial experiments. You are responsible for maintaining and purchasing chemicals and small lab equipment.

Requirements

  • a higher level qualification in physics/physical chemistry (HBO- or Msc-level);
  • knowledge of physico-chemical aspects of materials, preferably foods;
  • hands-on experience with various techniques, including, preferably, rheological methods, light scattering, microscopy, tensiometry;
  • intrinsic motivation for continuous improvement of education;
  • pro-active team skills, willing to take responsibility for day-to-day functioning of laboratory facilities;
  • didactic qualities and enthusiasm for teaching and working with students;
  • excellent communication skills;
  • an excellent command of the English language, both orally and in writing.

Conditions of employment

You will be part of an ambitious team working on a wide range of issues with plenty of scope for initiative. We offer a temporary position with, depending on your experience, a competitive salary to a maximum of € 3895,-. This salary is based on a full working week of 38 hours in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement Dutch Universities.

In addition, we offer:
