The program will most likely take the form of a mobile application designed for all students enrolled across all faculties, which will provide a performance, health and wellbeing support framework freely accessible 24/7.
The application will be positively oriented towards skills building using a comprehensive approach of content modules, providing contextual support to students’ needs in near to real-time. The mobile platform will include a range of well-designed interactive, evidence-based modules and tools arranged in a stepped care fashion, with universal modules addressing performance potential, skills growth and primary prevention as the first line of care, and more targeted interventions addressing common mental health and behavioral problems as a secondary prevention line of care (i.e., blended care and referral system).
The two PhD candidates will work in synergy in a multidisciplinary team with the task of creating and evaluating the first prototypes of the “digital companion”, but each one focusing on a specific aspect of the overarching project. Both candidates must thrive in dynamic environments with imperfect and/or emerging information, enjoy the challenges that come with working outside of their area of expertise and be comfortable with working in teams.
Current PhD position
The PhD project will focus on the creative design process involved in assisting with developing and investigating the content modules and included tools/interventions in the program, and on their formative evaluation through rounds of iterative testing with target users. The candidate will work closely with the other PhD candidate specialized in behavior change and a team of professional designers and developers (e.g., games and technology companies) contracted to build the various components of the system. Applicants to this position should expect to present their portfolio, demo reel or samples of their work as part of the selection process.
