The Center for Higher Education Policy Studies (CHEPS) is one of the world’s leading centers of excellence and relevance in its field and has a strong international network. Through its research, training & teaching and consultancy activities CHEPS makes governments, universities and others to better address the multiple challenges of higher education.

Throughout its 35 years history CHEPS has seen higher education changing. Student populations diversify and globalize, new technologies impact upon teaching and learning, and higher education is connected to sustainable development goals. Our interests include the impact of digitalization on higher education and its governance; European developments in university governance; university governance in emerging economies; higher education as a public good, and higher education’s impacts on society, labour markets, and sustainability.

JOB DESCRIPTION

You will contribute to CHEPS’ broad portfolio of research and education activities, which includes:

  • managing and carrying out research projects for CHEPS's international and national clients;
  • writing academic publications and publications for a broader audience;
  • growing our expertise and develop new multidisciplinary research projects and ideas;
  • acquiring (external) funding for research, often in collaboration with others;
  • teaching of university courses as well as in CHEPS’ professional training activities and participation in the supervision of PhD students.

Requirements

We seek highly motivated candidates who can link different fields such as policy studies, education studies, management, science policy studies. Your profile matches the following elements:

  • show vision and ambitious drive (seeing opportunities and possibilities, showing ambition);
  • hold a PhD degree in a relevant discipline and have experience in research within a multidisciplinary environment;
  • bring in advanced methodological skills, like combining quantitative and qualitative methods, text mining, big data, simulation and modelling, knowledge synthesis for EBP;
  • ambition and experience in working closely with governments, funding bodies and other partners in higher education studies;
  • have teaching experience (both lecturing and tutoring) at an internationally accredited university;
  • possess good communication skills and an excellent command of English at C2 level.

Conditions of employment

You will be appointed for two years with outlook on a tenured position, within a very stimulating scientific environment.

  • You will receive a salary between €3.255,- and € 5.656,- gross per month, depending on your work experience;
  • Excellent benefits including a holiday allowance of 8% of the gross annual salary, a year-end bonus of 8,3% and a solid pension scheme;
  • Minimum of 29 holidays in case of full-time employment;
  • Professional and personal development programs.

Salary and conditions are in accordance with the collective labour agreement for Dutch universities (CAO- NU).
