Job description

The activities will focus on improving appearance acquisition methods and/or enhancing appearance representation. We have special interest in developing lightweight methods for appearance capture (using only off-the-shelf devices, for example). Material appearance touches many important aspects of modern computer graphics, such as photorealistic rendering, content creation, virtual replica and prototyping, among others. Nevertheless, precisely and efficiently capturing and representing materials is still a challenge, and new and innovative research ideas are needed to push the state-of-the-art of this exciting area forward.

Requirements

  • You are talented and enthusiastic about research.
  • You have experience with or a strong background in computer graphics and/or image processing. Preferably you finished a master in the speciality of Computer Graphics in Computer Science, additionally, you might qualify with a diploma in (Applied) Mathematics, (Applied) Physics or Electrical Engineering.
  • You have strong programming skills.
  • You have good communication skills and are able to work in a team.
  • You are creative, ambitious, hardworking and persistent.
  • You have a good command of the English language (knowledge of Dutch is not required).

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 4 years.

Faculty Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS) is known worldwide for its high academic quality and the societal relevance of its research programmes. The Faculty includes two Computer Science Departments (Intelligent Systems and Software Technology). The two departments closely work together both in research and in education.
