Job description

A two-year postdoctoral position is available at the Institute for Theoretical Physics of the University of Amsterdam, in the group of prof. Jean-Sébastien Caux, starting around September 2020.

You will be part of an ongoing initiative aiming to develop nonperturbative methods for in- and out-of-equilibrium systems in low dimensions, in the context of quantum magnetism, cold atoms and nanoscale solid-state systems. Exceptional candidates with a PhD in theoretical physics and a strong background in integrability and the Bethe Ansatz, field theory, bosonization and numerical methods are particularly encouraged to apply.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 24 months.

A temporary contract for 38 hours per week, preferably starting at 1 September 2020 for the duration of 24 months. The salary, depending on relevant experience before the beginning of the employment contract, will be €2,709 to €4,274 (scale 10) gross per month, based on fulltime (38 hours a week), exclusive 8 % holiday allowance and 8,3 end-of-year bonus. A favorable tax agreement, the ‘30% ruling’, may apply to non-Dutch applicants. The Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities is applicable.
