To understand and leverage B2B behavior for improved supply chain sustainability, the Department of Supply Chain Analytics and the Department of Marketing of the School of Business and Economics has joined forces with three leading stakeholders in the aluminium supply chain: Aleris, Damco ‘Aldel’ and European Aluminium. With the support of the Dutch Science Foundation (NWO-Dinalog) we want to examine (i) aluminium demand and supply dynamics to assess the impact of government policies, technology and environmental and societal customer requirements; (ii) identify which sustainable business models practitioners consider most promising; (iii) evaluate their impact on profits and CO2 emissions for the partners in the supply chain. For this project, we are looking for a postdoctoral colleague to join our department.

We are looking for candidates who have a research interest in the interface between supply chain management, decision-making,  and sustainability. More specifically we look for candidates who have:

• a (nearly) completed Ph.D. thesis in Operations Management, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Management Science or related fields;
• publications and/or working papers in relevant domains;
• a strong interest in working on applied problems;
• a commitment to doing high quality scientific research on real-life problems and data;
• good communication skills (written and oral) and the ability to interact successfully with industry and academic partners.

Fixed-term contract: 1 year.

You can collaborate closely with the leading aluminium companies that have partnered together for this project. You will get the opportunity to visit these and other international companies to perform part of the research. You will also be able to participate in teaching in order to prepare for your future academic career.
The initial employment contract will affect a period of 1 year, with the possibility of extension.

Gross monthly salaries are based on qualifications and experience and are set in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement of the Dutch Universities. Department Supply Chain Analytics
The Department of Supply Chain Analytics has proven experience in sustainability modelling, logistics collaboration strategies and supply chain optimization witnessed by national and international research projects, active industry collaboration and journal publications. The group operates in a strong international research and industry network, participates in various national and international research projects and regularly organizes international conferences and workshops. Group members collaborate with leading researchers at several international universities. The research output of the department is published in leading academic journals in the field.
