Job description

The Meteorology and Air Quality group at Wageningen University Research (WUR) invites applications for a tenure-track position in the field of atmospheric sciences and/or meteorology. We seek applicants who bring research topics and methods that are complementary to those of other researchers in our group. Any approach(es) or/and their combination, including experimental field work, numerical modelling, and theoretical analysis are of interest. Affinity with the current MAQ lines of meteorological research that range from local to global scales will be valued, especially with a link to land-atmosphere interactions. In addition to the above, you must have the potential for innovation and leadership in research.

The job also requires teaching at BSc and MSc level and advising of students, which amounts to approximately 40% of the time. Examples of these courses are Dynamic Meteorology or Boundary-layer processes. On our website you find all courses, and they are clearly connected with our research. Interesting to note here is the recognition of the excellent education offered in Wageningen. Our university was chosen as the best institution for higher education in the Netherlands for the 15th time in a row in 2019. Besides that, we are ranked as university as number 1 worldwide in the fields of agriculture, ecology and environment, as well as excellent rankings in other fields.

Furthermore, an important aspect of the job is the acquisition of research projects, both at national and international level, to fund new PhD and postdoc positions. More information on our research and education activities can be found at the page of our group.

Wageningen University & Research

The goal of Wageningen University & Research is to deliver a substantial contribution to the quality of life. We search for answers to issues affecting society- such as sustainable food production, climate change and alternative energy. In Wageningen, we encompass the entire chain of knowledge, from fundamental research to science-based and up-scalable practical knowledge to create solutions that have impact. A coordinated approach to problems and the cooperation between various disciplines are at the heart of the outstanding approach of Wageningen. Every day 6,500 people work on 'the quality of life', turning ideas into reality, on a global scale. Could you be one of these people? We give you the space you need!

The Meteorology and Air Quality Group (MAQ) seeks to foster the understanding of atmospheric processes and their relevance for weather, air quality and climate. Research focuses on the atmospheric boundary layer over urban and rural surfaces, including boundary layer clouds, and the atmospheric aspects of the connected energy, water, carbon and aerosol budgets. MAQ pioneers on investigations of the interactions between the land at the atmosphere at the meter and second scales. Our ground-breaking approach is the combination of advanced measurements techniques with fine-scale numerical simulations. Please check out these video's about our fieldwork and numerical simulation of land-atmosphere interaction.Equal Opportunities Employer We encourage applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation or age.
