Job description

Nikhef is the national institute for subatomic physics in The Netherlands. At Nikhef, approximately 175 physicists and 75 technical staff members work together in an open and international scientific environment. Together, they perform theoretical and experimental research in the fields of particle and astroparticle physics. The Nikhef institute is a collaboration between six major Dutch universities and the Dutch Foundation for Scientific Research (NWO).

The B-physics group of Nikhef has an opening for a Postdoctoral Research Associate (2+1 years)

to work on the LHCb experiment at the CERN LHC collider. The group is involved in the research program of CP violation and rare decays of B mesons and exotic particle production as well as on detector upgrades. Nikhef contributes in hardware to the Vertex Locator silicon detector (Velo) and the Scintillating Fiber Tracker (SciFi), and in software to the online reconstruction of events in the High-Level Trigger (HLT).

The position

We are looking for a candidate to work on the analysis of decay-time dependent CP-violation, in particular using decays of B mesons to open charm. The candidate is also encouraged to contribute to either reconstruction software or the SciFi upgrade project.

Keywords: B-decays, decay-time dependent CP violation, SciFi, Real-Time Analysis.
