Maastricht University is looking for a project leader to further develop and strengthen the educational profile of the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

Job description

Since September 2011, Maastricht University has developed bachelor and master education in the natural sciences. Currently, the total enrolment of the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE) is about 2000 students from over 50 countries. It is the ambition of Maastricht University to further strengthen these programmes. In addition, new science and engineering education and research groups and institutes have started or are being developed, including a world-leading group in gravitational waves research, and research and education in circular chemical engineering, biotechnology and technical physics at the different Brightlands campuses.

 

We are searching for a talented and motivated candidate, passionate about education and new educational developments, to join our team as project leader. Initial focus of the appointment will be on the further development of new bachelors and masters programmes in engineering. With the rapid growth of the faculty, new tasks will arise in the field of education and research. The position will report to the project manager strategic development and will become part of the project management team of the faculty.

 

You support the project manager in developing new educational programmes. Topics include curriculum design, assessment (policy) design, quality assurance systems, accreditations, macro efficiency applications and other strategic and operational tasks. In the future, you may also be assigned to projects involving research. Many activities of FSE are carried out at the different Brightlands campuses: the Brightlands Chemelot Campus near Geleen, surrounded by industry, the Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo, in close proximity to important agri-food companies, the Brightlands Smart Services Campus in Heerlen and the Brightlands Health Campus in Maastricht, which also contains the Maastricht University Medical Centre. Most activities of FSE are characterized by extensive collaborations between academia, (local) government and business.

You:

 

·        Have an academic degree.

·        Have affinity with STEM disciplines and research.

·        Are independent, proactive and have analytical skills and an analytical attitude.

·        Are sensitive to stakeholder interests and able to substantiate an argument, motivate and convince both verbally and in writing.

·        Have strong communication skills and an excellent command of the English and Dutch language.

·        You flourish well in a rapidly developing environment.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: one year.
