As a PhD candidate, you conduct research on the influence of being exposed to different photoperiods (daylengths) during the prenatal phase on sleep and the functioning of the circadian clock in adulthood in mice. To this end, you will use EEG/EMG measurements and electrophysiological measurements. You will closely collaborate with other research groups to analyse the epigenetic changes. You will finish your research with a doctoral thesis.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic candidate who holds a master’s degree in neuroscience or similar. You are qualified to work with experimental animals and possess an ‘article 9’ or ‘article 12’ qualification. Furthermore, you are able to work both independently and in a multidisciplinary team. You will be employed on the basis of 36 hours per week. Appointment is for a maximum of four years, to be completed with a doctoral thesis. Your salary will start with € 2,422 gross per month in the first year, amounting to a maximum of € 3,103 gross per month in the fourth year based on a fulltime position (scale for PhD students in the Collective Labour Agreement for University Hospitals).
