• a PhD degree in forest ecology, tree ecophysiology, forest management, nature conservation or similar;
• knowledge about, and research expertise in, temperate forest ecosystems;
• additionally, you have proven experience in at least one of the three topics mentioned. We welcome scientists with observational, experimental or modelling expertise.
• strong quantitative research skills
• ability to successfully work in teams and take initiatives;
• excellent organizational and communication skills;
• motivated to teach students from different backgrounds and willing to adopt innovative teaching methods.
• a competitive publication and funding acquisition record and the ambition to follow the Wageningen University tenure track. Several years of post-PhD research experience is highly appreciated;
• proficiency in English and Dutch (or willing to learn within short time);

We offer a tenure-track position (seven-years) that will be converted to a permanent position when the tenure track requirements are fulfilled. In addition, we offer:

The Forest Ecology and Forest Management (FEM) group teaches and studies the structure and functioning of trees and forest ecosystems and their responses to changing environmental and social conditions. We apply this knowledge to develop sustainable forest management systems. The coming years, FEM research and teaching focuses on three themes:

1. Multiple forest use and management;
2. Resilient forests and (3) Forest restoration. FEM is embedded in the department of Environmental Sciences (ESG). ESG provides fundamental research and academic education on our living environment: biodiverse systems, water, sustainable land management, green cities.
