You are encouraged to strengthen the position of the Operations department. You have the ability to conduct high quality, original research and publishes regularly in high-ranked international journals. Given the increased attention of our MSc Technology and Operations Management for data analytics and programming, we particularly encourage candidates with expertise at the interface of data science and Informatics with Industrial Engineering and Operations Management to apply.

Your research time is allocated according to standardized faculty procedures, which guarantees initially 50% time for research during the tenure track period. Responsibilities include teaching in the bachelor and master programmes of the department. All MSc programmes are taught in English. We expect you to perform research in the area of Operations, initiate new research projects, participate in the coaching and mentoring of PhD students, support renewal of the educational and research programmes of the department, and participate in committees on university and faculty level.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 84 months.

We offer in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities:

- a salary depending on qualifications and work experience starting from a minimum of € 3,637 (salary scale 11) to a maximum of € 5,656 gross per month (scale 12) for a full-time position
- a holiday allowance of 8% gross annual income
- an 8.3% year-end bonus
- minimum of 29 holidays and additional 12 holidays in case of full-time employment
- participation in a pension scheme for employees.

The appointment will be for a period of seven years, attached is the condition that an evaluation will take place in the third year of the appointment. On the basis of a positive final evaluation in the sixth year of employment, the candidate will be granted tenure. The Tenure Track system is a career path that, when completed successfully, leads to a full professorship.

Department Operations
The department of Operations is one of the largest European research groups on operations, with focal areas in Operations Management (OM), Operations Research (OR), and Industrial Engineering (IE). The department has over 30 scientific staff members and around 25 PhD and PD researchers. Its research publications cover the full range of journals for the field, including Journal of Operations Management, Operations Research, Journal of Supply Chain Management, and Transportation Science. The department builds on a strong position in international research networks in organizing conferences, and participating in working groups and projects. Staff members are involved in successful and accredited bachelor and master programmes in Supply Chain Management, Technology Operations Management, Operations Research, and Business Administration. They also take part in Research Master and PhD training at both the institutional and national level. The central research issue in our department is operations and supply chain planning. Topics include but are not limited to supply chain integration, sustainability, service supply chains, supply chain resilience, health care operations, transportation/routing and humanitarian logistics. Methodological approaches range from empirical (case studies, surveys) to simulation and (applied) OR.
