The appointee will be embedded in the Department of Organization Studies (http://tinyurl.com/kq54h9p) at the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences of Tilburg University. Research in the department (https://tinyurl.com/rnwqdnu) focuses on relations within and between organizations and their effects on organizations’ adaptive behavior (e.g., organizational learning, change, innovation, etc.). The department has a very strong research orientation with a focus on high-quality publications in leading journals. Our faculty publish in e.g. Academy of Management Annals, Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Journal, Organization Science, Organization Studies, Research Policy, International Journal of Project Management, and Journal of Management. Members of the department supervise Bachelor and Master students and teach a variety of degree courses at both levels in the Organization Studies programs including the Bachelor track ‘Global Management of Social Issues’ and the Master specialization tracks ‘Global Management of Social Issues’ (https://tinyurl.com/y2r3u4qd). The last two programs focus on organizing for grand challenges. All programs and tracks (except for one of the bachelor programs) are taught in English. Non-Dutch-speaking candidates will be asked to teach in English only. The working language of the Department and School is English.
Profile of the Associate Professorship Organizing for Social Issues (tenured)
Eligible female candidates for this tenured position should be specialized in education and research of organizing for social issues, also known as grand challenges or wicked problems ( for example climate change, sustainable production and consumption, migration or poverty and inequality). Organizing for social issues requires social innovations and entrepreneurship as well as new organizational forms (e.g., cross-sectoral partnering) that concern the involvement of multiple stakeholders, collaboration in multidisciplinary, international network-based projects that execute tasks over multiple iterations over longer periods. Each of these aspects of organizing for social issues defines important competences we are looking for in the ideal candidate.
