Job description

Ultrasound wave physics enables imaging of biological tissues with high spatial and temporal resolution (~ 50 ms, 100 µm) across multiple centimeter depths. Recently, this capability was enhanced with the discovery of acoustic biomolecules - proteins with physical properties enabling them to scatter ultrasound.

The candidate will develop advanced ultrasound imaging methods for the fast volumetric in vivo detection of acoustic biomolecules in order to maximize the impact of this nanotechnology in biology and medicine. The laboratory has a particular focus on brain and cardiac imaging applications. Research will include both simulation and experimental work.

The candidate will be a member of the Imaging Physics department at TU Delft, and will collaborate strongly with the Bionanoscience Department of TU Delft as well as the Neuroscience department of Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam.
