Job description

A PhD training position on cancer immunotherapy and chemical tumor cell targeting is immediately available in the laboratory of Peter Friedl, MD, PhD, in the Department of Cell Biology, Radboud Institute of Molecular Life Sciences, Radboud University Medical Centre, Nijmegen, The Netherlands.

The project is funded by the national NWO-Priority program "Institute for Chemical Immunology". We aim to investigate how the glycocalyx of tumor cells induces resistance to T cell-mediated killing and how this can be exploited for improving immunotherapy. We will collaborate with the team of Prof. Floris van Delft, Wageningen University, to develop and apply novel click chemistry to render the tumor cell more vulnerable and improve cytotoxic T cell function in the tumor microenvironment.

Please refer to our recent publications for related information on tumor targeting and the microenvironment (Nat Cell Biol 22:97, 2020; J Exp Med 217:e20181184, 2020; J Natl Cancer Inst 111:1042, 2019; Nat Cell Biol. 20:8, 2018; Nat Biomed Eng. 1:0007, 2017; Proc Natl Acad Sci USA. 112:7551, 2015).
