The Department of Public Administration (PA) of the faculty Behavioural, Management and Social sciences (BMS) is looking for an Assistant Professor in Public Administration, focusing on administration and policy in a transforming technological and societal context.

The challenge
The successful candidate will be part of the Department of Public Administration that investigates new challenges for administration and policy in a context of societal and technological transformations associated with the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This position is an exciting opportunity for co-developing and contributing to teaching public administration in various educational programs of the faculty, including the BSc Management, Society & Technology, the MSc Public Administration and the MSc European Studies. The candidate teaches public administration courses, supervises bachelor and master theses, and acquires a University Teaching Qualification within an agreed period. The candidate contributes to public administration research aimed at generating new understanding of administrative and policy responses to today’s grand societal and technological challenges. The successful candidate will actively acquire funding for research projects.

• You have a PhD, preferably in public administration;
• A strong interest in, and preferably experience with, the study of administration and policy in emerging technological environments;
• Preferably experience with teaching at an internationally accredited university;
• A University Teaching Qualification (UTQ) certificate, or the willingness to obtain this, and a passion for, and ambition to become, an inspiring lecturer in the field of public administration;
• Experience in public administration research, which is apparent from publications in highly ranked academic journals, presentations at international scientific conferences, and other academic activities;
• Experience with contemporary state-of-the art research methods;
• Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated proficiency in the written and spoken use of the English language, at least at C2 level;
• Being active in networks for obtaining research funding, and have ambition to work closely with government agencies.
• A high degree of responsibility and independence, while collaborating with close colleagues, researchers and other university staff is strongly encouraged.

• You will be appointed for 38 hours per week for 3 years with a prospect for a permanent contract.
