Job description

Working within the Enterprise Architecture Team, the Solution Architect will partner with both business and IT stakeholders in order to define and implement a solution architecture able to support the operations and research §objectives of KNMI. The solution architect will guide all future initiatives regarding software/application development and operation, ensuring they comply with the architecture and convergence towards the target IT landscape. 

While liaising with architects and software developers you will bring an innovative concept to a solid solution delivery by breaking it down into logical, functional components that comply with KNMI’s IT architecture.

You advise in the selection and implementation of technologies to be used for software engineering, development and deployment, containerization and orchestration. You proactively collaborate with software development teams and manage issues hands on during development.

Requirements

You are conceptually strong, which you couple with a passion for delivery and the capability to enthuse people. Furthermore, you are committed to the Agile principles of commitment, focus, openness, respect and courage.

You have a Master’s Degree in Information Technology or related field and advanced knowledge of software development, engineering, testing and deployment methodologies and CI/CD tools;

  • You have a broad experience in a complex IT environment, preferably in a R&D field.
  • You are able to create standards and enforce processes resulting in effective API’s.
  • You have experience in designing robust processing systems.
  • You have experience working together in an enterprise architecture team.
  • To be or become successful in this role good knowledge of the Linux OS and current software languages, containerization(Docker), (Kubernetes), Git, Gitlab, hypercloud platfoms and cloud based solutions (AWS) are essential. 
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the creativity to visualize our architectural principles in an understandable way for a broad target group.
  • Your written and spoken English is excellent and you have a working knowledge of Dutch.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year.

  • Salaris­niveau: schaal 12, schaal 13
  • Maand­salaris: Min €3.815 – Max. €6.374 (bruto)
  • Dienst­verband: Arbeidsovereenkomst voor bepaalde tijd met uitzicht op onbepaalde tijd
  • Contract­duur: 1 jaar
  • Minimaal aantal uren per week: 36
  • Maximaal aantal uren per week: 36

Naast het salaris ontvang je een Individueel Keuzebudget (IKB). Het IKB bestaat uit geld (16,37% van je bruto jaarsalaris) en tijd. Met het IKB maak jij de keuzes die bij jou passen en kun je een deel van je arbeidsvoorwaarden zelf samenstellen. Je kunt er bijvoorbeeld voor kiezen om een deel van je maandinkomen te laten uitbetalen wanneer jij dat wenst. Ook kun je dit budget omzetten in verlof en andersom of besteden aan fiscaal vriendelijke doelen. While keeping KNMI’s main products and services available 24/7, we are redefining and restructuring our elaborated IT infrastructure and application landscape. Mainly cloud based, in compliance with national and international standards for weather services and build for innovation are our goals.
