Job description

Are you an inspiring teacher and expert in the field of aquatic ecology? Do you have an excellent track record in aquatic ecological research as evidenced by publications in scientific journals? Do you have a university teaching qualification, or are you willing to obtain such a qualification in a relatively short time? Please read on!

Wageningen University is seeking to appoint a lecturer in Aquatic Ecology (0.8 FTE). Teaching tasks include providing and coordinating lab sessions, internships and graduation subjects in the field of aquatic ecology, participating in educational consultation structures on behalf of the chair group and keeping abreast of the latest developments in educational innovation. In addition, the position includes (limited) research tasks closely related to education. You should be able to take up these teaching tasks almost immediately on account of the academic teaching schedule.

The work of the Aquatic Ecology and Water Quality Management group focuses on generating new insights that can help restore freshwater and saltwater ecosystems and train a new generation of professionals. The complex interaction between physical, chemical and biological processes is central to our system-oriented research. The research is multidisciplinary (chemical, biological, mathematical) and ranges from laboratory research (detailed process studies) to model studies to field studies. The group's multidisciplinary expertise comes together in the development of integrated models for ecosystem and water quality management.

New insights are integrated into the chair group's teaching as much as possible, which means that our education is constantly evolving. In addition to innovations in content, our teaching is also constantly evolving in order to transfer knowledge in the best possible way and allow students to gain knowledge. All courses at Wageningen University are taught in English, which is also the lingua franca at our research institutes. That is why more extensive information about the chair group is available in English.
