The position is for an initial period of 1 year and can be either full-time or part-time.

Job description

One postdoc position is open at Tilburg University (The Netherlands), in close collaboration with Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya (Israel). The position is funded by the Sara van Dam project grant of the Royal Academy of Sciences (KNAW), awarded to Dr. Marion van den Heuvel and Dr. Yoni Levy (see link). The position is for an initial period of 1 year and can be either full-time or part-time. 

The successful candidate will be involved in the investigation of mother-child neural synchrony. The project investigates the way that brains of mothers and their infants/children connect (using dual-EEG measurement) during social interaction, and how this connection is affected by trauma. The Dutch cohort will specialize in maternal childhood trauma, while the cohort in Israel will specialize in war trauma.

Requirements

Applicants should have a background in psychology, developmental neuroscience, cognitive science or equivalent, and a keen interest in studies of the neural basis of social interactions, emotions, development and cognition. Knowledge and experience with (infant/child) EEG, brain connectivity, and graph theory is an advantage. Strong computational and programming skills are preferred. 
 
The successful applicant is anticipated to participate in all stages of the project, including empirical data collection, data-analysis and writing of manuscripts for publication in international peer reviewed journals. However, most time will be spend on the analyses and visualization of neural synchrony. The position will be based at Tilburg University, The Netherlands but will involve short visits to Israel. Fluency in English (writing and speaking) as well as ability to work as a member of a team is expected.

Depending on the candidates’ experience, the salary for the position of junior researcher 4 on a fulltime basis ranges between 2709 euro and 4274 euro gross per month. We offer a position for 0.8 – 1.0 FTE. Furthermore, an attractive package of benefits, including, sports facilities, an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year allowance. If applicable we can apply for the 30% tax regulation.
