Job description

Education and Student Affairs (ESA) is the central service for prospective students and those already enrolled at Eindhoven University of Technology. It provides a broad range of services, including student enrollment, help choosing the right study program, various types of training and coaching (e.g. study skills), and the execution of ICT programs for education (e.g. video lectures and the notebook project). ESA also provides language training in Academic English and Dutch as a second language (NT2), language support, as well as Intercultural Communication. Moreover, ESA offers individual coaching for students with personal problems, advice to students wanting to study abroad, student financial support, and mediation regarding grants and scholarships.

Student Facilities is part of ESA and consists of four teams: Student Coaching, Counseling & Information, TU/e Language Center, Career & Professional Skills and the Planning & Support Center.

The Career & Professional Skills team's tasks include coaching & training of both Bachelor as Master students. Further they are involved in the coordination, project management and bringing together different parties and actors involved in the work orientation of students. They also have close contacts with study and career associations. Also they help the faculties with the embedding of professional skills in the curriculum.

Within the TU/e, a development trajectory has taken place in order to make a quality change to a future-proof educational support. For the Career & Professional Skills team this means, among other things, working towards a more pro-active coordinating role to help achieving the vision 2030 of the TUe on employability and challenge based learning, to mention the important focus points for the coming years



Job description

In this position, we expect you to work as a skills trainer as well as a coordinator for one or more faculties. Training and coaching students and student assistants in the field of professional skills development and career orientation and advising on programs related to employability will be your daily work. In addition, you will work on projects with an implementation character. These can be in the field of employability, but also on the cutting edge of education and IT whereby IT will be used as a means to achieve the goals. For example, the use of online badges to value skill development and career orientation is such a project.

Tasks

The workday/week of a skills trainer will include some of the following aspects:
  • Coordinating, organizing, preparing and/or giving professional skill trainings;
  • Coaching individual students on professional development and/or on career aspects;
  • Staff meetings with faculties about embedding professional skills in the curriculum;

Requirements

Profile

We are therefore looking for a candidate who meets the following requirements:

- Has a relevant Master's degree, such as Psychology, Human Resource Studies, or

  Communication and Information Sciences;

- Brings along at least 3 years of relevant work experience in which you have been involved

  in skill development / career orientation (preferably in a project-based manner);

- Identifies relevant internal and external developments and incorporates these into advice;

- Experience in relationship management or as an advisor;

- Knowledge and experience in the field of coaching individuals;

- Affinity with blended learning, challenge based learning and educational innovation;

- Excellent oral and written skills, both in English (level C1) and in Dutch;

- A connector with a sense of developments in the relevant field and political relationships

  within organizations.

Conditions of employment

We offer a 1 FTE appointment for the position. Depending on age and experience, the salary will be at least € 2790,- and at most € 4402,- gross per month (salary scale 10) for full-time employment. We expect that those who apply for this position are also willing to fill this position for 1 FTE.

We offer a temporary appointment for a period of one year. If the performance is good and the financial conditions remain the same, the contract of employment can be extended.

In addition, we offer good secondary benefits, including an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%, a holiday allowance of 8% and excellent sports facilities.

The appointment may be carried out by Euflex, which is the internal temporary employment and secondment agency of Eindhoven University of Technology.
