The programme falls under Academic Affairs which is part of the General Management Directorate, the unit that supports the Executive Board.

Within the EUR-wide Diversity and Inclusion programme, the project Education and Students is focused on creating an, among others, inclusive classroom, campus and student life. Working within this project, the project member Student Engagement focusses on bringing about an inclusive student community.

Your duties as project member Student Engagement will include:

  • Organizing regular debates and (structured) dialogue concerning the challenges and best practices around D&I topics on campus and in society
  • Setting up and coordinating a student panel and volunteer group
  • Liaising with and supporting (student) grassroots initiatives
  • Connecting and engaging with students, study associations and student associations for instance by organizing activities and facilitating meetings.
  • Providing advice to relevant parties and activities within the university on how to foster student engagement and inclusiveness (e.g. Eurekaweek)
  • Promote and give advice on how to implement an inclusive first day of university for first year students
  • Signaling developments relating to D&I within the student community, identify areas for improvement and collaboration
  • Support the project lead Education & Students

Requirements

For this position, we are looking for a project member with experience in the university setting, proven affinity with the student community and engagement and who meets the following requirements:

  • Completion of a Master’s degree
  • Relevant experience in higher education (as a student or professional) with one or more of the tasks mentioned above
  • Very good command of spoken and written Dutch and English (C1 level)
  • Result-oriented, decisive, creative, proactive, with networking and collaborative skills
  • Excellent organizational skills including attention for detail and multitasking skills, able to keep overview and handle various projects simultaneously.
  • A team player, and able to work in an autonomous way and take initiative
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to interact and communicate efficiently with diverse stakeholders
  • Affinity with student community

Conditions of employment

Internationally-oriented and varied work within an enthusiastic team, with attractive fringe benefits in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU). We offer a contract that is initially for one year based on 1,0 FTE, with a possibility of extension.

Your remuneration will depend on your specific knowledge and experience, and will be calculated on the basis of full-time salary ranging between € 2.790,- and € 4.402,- gross per month (scale 10, CAO NU).

Erasmus University Rotterdam offers attractive terms of employment, including a holiday allowance of 8%, a year-end payment of 8.3% and 41 holidays per year based on a full-time appointment. In addition, EUR takes part in the ABP pension scheme, and we also offer partially paid parental leave. Moreover, EUR staff members are allowed to make use of the EUR facilities, including the Erasmus sports centre and the University Library.
