Job description

Postdoc will work on two projects, both aimed at developing innovative genetic diagnostics strategies. One project will focus on further developing non-invasive prenatal diagnosis for severe monogenic diseases such as cystic fibrosis, thalassemia, Duchenne, etc. For background please see our paper Vermeulen et al., AJHG 2017. The other project aims at developing innovative new strategies for HLA-typing, important for donor-recipient matching for tissue- and cell transplantation. Each project is supported by a dedicated bioinformatician and will have a dedicated technician that will be supervised by the postdoc. Moreover, the projects will be carried out in close collaboration with biotech company Cergentis and several Dutch Academic Medical Centers (project 1) and with biotech company GenDx (project 2).

Requirements

The postdoc should have a strong affinity with molecular biology, preferably has experience with CRISPR-Cas technology, isothermal DNA amplification and/or NGS-capture methods, be excited about technology development and have a strong motivation to translate basic research into clinical applications. He/she should have the skills to supervise two technicians and communicate productively with the companies and the medical centers involved in these projects.

Conditions of employment

According to “CAO-Nederlandse Universiteiten” (CAO-NU), salary scale negotiable, depending on age and experience scale 10 excluding 8% holiday allowance and an 8,3% year-end bonus. We offer an extensive package of fringe benefits.

Duration: one year, with the possibility to extend for one more year.
