The University Library (UB) is looking for an enthusiastic colleague who is the interlocutor in the support of scientific research and education for a number of faculties in the field of Social Sciences.

We are looking for
In the first place, an entrepreneurial, open minded and communicative colleague with a master’s degree in social sciences or humanities. In addition, we would appreciate familiarity with academic professional practice and the diversity in scientific publishing cultures. However, that is also something which you can further develop. Furthermore, it is important that you have a good command of the Dutch and English language (C1 in accordance with CEFR or willingness to develop to this level).

What are you going to do?

The range of tasks is diverse and varied. Among other things, it consists of:

  • creatively connecting information and data issues in research and teaching of the faculties on the one hand, and information services of the University Library on the other hand;
  • develop and manage the literature collection in the domain of social sciences and the promotion of its use;
  • ensure that the services and products of the University Library are delivered effectively and develop ideas and concepts for new products and services; 
  • provide communication and organize events to bring the services of the University Library to the attention of our target groups
  • support the impact of research by increasing the visibility of researchers and their scientific output;
  • provide face-to-face and online workshops for groups of students or researchers on the topics the University Library stands for (e.g., academic and information skills, literature review, publication management, Open Access, Research Intelligence);
  • keep abreast of (inter)national developments in the field of scientific information and explore how these can be used within the EUR;
  • be actively involved in projects resulting from strategic plans of the University Library;
  • working closely with six other Faculty Liaison Librarians and colleagues from our Data & Publication Support team and other teams within the University Library, such as Education Support;
  • build and maintain a good network, both within the aforementioned domain and outside the university with (inter)national colleagues.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year.
